I’ve been busy working on this new show Heads in the Cloud for the last month. Its a little outside the Digital Pill box but I’ve posted it here for anyone who might be entertained by Episode 1. Dave Evans explains the uses of the accordion bellows shake. In this video, Dave describes the uses of the double and triple bellows shake in jazz, zydeco and cabaret music. He includes detailed instructions about how to perform the shake as well as techniques for adding accents to play with the rhythmic aspects of accordion.

Heads in the Cloud is a new internet based TV show from Leo Dale, Ross Daniels and Phil Greenwood that begins in mid July. In 4 episodes filmed at Footscray Arts Centre they will answering questions, talking about the speed of change in Arts, Climate, Politics, Technology and Society and generally throwing the cat amongst the pidgeons. They want your input, so watch the teaser and write to them.

The hit counter just clicked over to 500,013 so I figure its time to say thanks and talk about what comes next. Its interesting to note that half of that traffic has come from the sax lessons on the site. So firstly I’d like to say THERE ARE MORE coming, starting with a few I’ve been planning and I’m hoping to post next week but also, there are a few other musos who have agreed to post a lesson.

If you have any stories about how the music industry (and I use that term lightly) has its head buried in the past in an age when the future is bearing down on us at 500,013 hits per second

Once the traffic on this site started to flow I branched out into presenting some music that I loved and kept trying to up the quality of the videos. This culminated in a personal favourite at the Jazz Fringe that involves new composition, a superb aerialist and brilliant sound recording as well as my videoing skills. Its always better to work with a team of talented people.

Thanks to Victoria Rocks who have been my major sponsor for a couple of years. I wasn’t successful in securing that funding for the coming 12 months which means I am busy working the phones to find support for Digital Pill and I have a couple of Sponsors helping out – DiDonato Partners and the new side project for Maribyrnong City Council called HEADS IN THE CLOUD. Its a delicate balancing act – following my passion for music and online video – and finding the time and money to do it.

Fran Swinn’s composition – Inform – for Jazz quartet and acrobat, featuring Eugene Ball – trumpet, Fran Swinn – guitar, Tamara Murphy – double bass, Ben Hendry – drums and Rockie Stone – acrobatics/aerials. Inform is a collection of short pieces written with the rhythm and form of the various circus apparatus in mind and performed with a focus on interaction and improvisation, thus creating an ensemble of five. Lamine Sonko singing about the Senegalese traditional wrestling game. The names in the song are the big wrestling champions in Senegal. Pape Moussa Sonko (Lamine’s brother) is mentioned in the song, he is a wrestler and also a very famous dancer.
